  1. Reminder ALL Freshmen are required to have a Dental Screening: The Iowa Department of and return to the main office. The exam should be dated within the last year. The Iowa Department of Public Health also has a form Certificate of Dental Screening Exemption for Religious and Financial Hardship also available for fill out. Both forms are available in the main office. ALL forms must be turned in NOW.

 

  1. Black and Gold Hours Opportunities:  Vinton Softball Baseball Corporation will be hosting several baseball and softball tournaments at the Marvin Lindsey baseball complex in April, May and June and are looking for volunteers to work in the concession stand.  Tournament dates are TODAY, May 6th-7th, May 13th, June 3rd-4th and June 10th-11th.  Hours available are 8AM – 5PM each tournament day.  If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Monica Funk at mfunk@pointbuilders.com or 319-350-0900.
  2. Summer Job Opportunities File in the Main Office if interested. We now have 3 summer job opportunities available for you to look at.
  3. Voyager Dance Team Information Packet’s available at the main office this week.
  4. VSHS Cheerleading Expectations and Rules Handbook for 2017-2018 school year now available in the main office if you need one.

  1. All students’ grades 8-12 are invited to attend the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference to be held in Ames from June 27-29.  This conference is open to ALLstudents and is not limited to 4-H members. This conference features keynote speakers, innovative workshops, community service projects, dances and games.  Contact the Benton County Extension office at 472-4739 or go to http://www.extension.iastate.edu/4h/iowa4hyouthconference for more information.
  2. Black & Gold Hours Opportunity: Live Healthy Iowa Kids Track Meet Monday, May 8th 4:45 pm – 6:00 pm, Karr Athletic Field Track.  Volunteers will help with event registration/check-in, and running of track and field events.  Please contact Matt Boggess at 472-4164 or vprdzone.com to sign up to help.
  3. Black & Gold Hours Opportunity:  Volunteers are needed for approximately 1 hour to help move furniture Wednesdays at 3:30 pm. This is an ongoing need which will count towards Black & Gold hours or this summer can be used for 1:1 laptops.  Please leave a message with your contact information at Echo Ministries 472-2002 if interested in helping.

  1. Seniors – Black & Gold Hours:  The deadline to submit Black & Gold hours to the LMC is Monday, May 8th at 9:00 AM.  Seniors who have completed 100 or more volunteer hours will be recognized at Senior Awards Night, May 10th.  If you have questions, please see Mrs. Helms.  

 

  1. ******* IMPORTANT ******Attention Seniors: Vinton Newspapers will publish a special section featuring the Class of 2017 to include pictures of seniors and brief summary of your plans for the future. Stop by the window sill at the main office and pick up a form ASAP. Please return form, along with your photo, to the school office or Vinton Newspapers Office by TODAY to be entered in a drawing to win $50 CASH. Final deadline to submit your info is Monday, May 8th.

 

  1. Senior last day of school is Friday, May 19th.

 

  1. All Senior bills are to be paid before Graduation Day.

  4. Proms out of School Dance Guest forms are now available on the window sill main office. They must be returned by 1:30 TODAY to the main office.
  5. Prom ticket sales END at 1:30 TODAY, NO EXCEPTIONS. Cost per Junior will be $30.00, Seniors and guests will be $10.00 each.
  6. ATTENTION JUNIORS: Prom decorating will be at the Skate Center TODAY @ 3:30. Reminder- This is YOUR prom, not Mrs. Duffy’s or Your Parents. All decorating will be done by Juniors. If no one shows up, the Skate Center will look pretty plain come Saturday and the $1,000+ worth of decorations will go to waste. I hope to see you all then!
  7. Post Prom: There are now sign-up sheets in the Commons for the Bags Tournament, Tug-of-War, and Fear Factor.  Family Feud filled up very quickly but there are still a few slots left for Human Foosball.  If none of these games are quite “your thing” there will be plenty of other activities to enjoy!  

 

  1. Grand March Information: There will be reserved parking for those students attending the Grand March out front of the high School. Please look for reserved signs for those participating in the Grand March.
