Home School FAQ

(3/19/20, 3 pm) As we are gathering more information about the length of time things are going to be closed, I wanted to provide the most detailed update I could, in hopes to answer as many questions as possible.

Week of March 16th:
No Gym Day and No Kenzie Field Trip
Week of March 23rd:
No Gym Day
Week of March 30th:
No Gym Night, No Testing March 31st, April 2nd or April 3rd
Week of April 6th:
No Gym Day, No JR CRISS or Book Club, No Courthouse visit
Week of April 17th: No Gym Day, No Matchstick Marble Field Trip

Will testing be made up and what are the makeup dates?
Currently, there is no answer for that.  The states opens up a testing window for districts to test.  The closure is during that window.  Those are decisions that need to be made at the state level, then the district level, and then we will work to make decisions from there.  Our diploma requirements require our 11th-grade students to get a certain score in order to obtain the diploma.  If testing does not happen this year, it will not stand in the way of students getting the diploma.  Alternate testing ideas have already been decided, if needed.

Will the field trips be made up?
Not this year.  We will look to schedule them for next year, as we were really excited about these opportunities.

What about JR CRISS and Book Club for April?
These are canceled, and will not be made up.  At this time we are planning on having them in May.  A new plan for book club will be developed and sent out when things are decided about book club and mock trial.

What will happen for Health and Wellness and Art History Class for High School?
For the April class, it will be moved to an online format.  Mrs. Church will provide more information to students and families as the time gets closer.  The reason for the online decision is to ensure the course continues towards gaining credits.

What about graduation?
At this time, we should assume it will go on as planned.  There have been no decisions made for that far into the future.  Any update to events in May will be provided as soon as they become available.

Thank you so much for your patience during this time.  If you have any other questions, let me know
