Graduation ceremonies for the Vinton-Shellsburg Class of 2020 will be held Sunday, June 21st at 2:00 pm. Weather permitting, graduation ceremonies will be held outside at the Karr Complex. If the weather is not looking favorable to hold graduation outside, then the ceremonies will be moved to the high school gymnasium. Any change to the location of graduation will be made and communicated no later than Friday, June 19.
To remain within school guidelines and public health recommendations, we plan to keep graduation attendance limited. Each senior will receive an envelope of tickets for admittance into the ceremony. Graduates/family members can disperse their allotted tickets to their own choosing. Admittance to the Karr Complex (or gym if necessary) will open at 1:00 pm. Parents/family members will be seated on the turf at Karr Complex and they will need to bring their own lawn chairs. The home bleachers will be reserved only for 2020 graduates, VS staff members, and ushers.
We expect attendees to follow other health-related protocols:
- Do not attend if have a fever, cough, or have been exposed to someone with COVID;
- Maintain physical distance from other attendees;
- After the ceremony, people will be expected to leave the complex.
Mr. Kingsbury will be holding a brief 2020 senior graduation practice Friday, June 19 from 9:00 – 10:00 am at the Karr Complex. Graduation practice will begin promptly at 9:00 am in order to cover everything needed. Seniors will receive their tickets (four if the ceremony is indoors, five if the ceremony is outdoors) at the conclusion of practice.
We look forward to a great day of celebration.
