LETTER FROM THE PRINCIPAL

WELCOME TO SHELLSBURG ELEMENTARY!

My name is Ryan Davis and I am the principal of Shellsburg Elementary School in the Vinton-Shellsburg School District.  Having graduated from Vinton-Shellsburg in 1994, it is an honor to serve our district and communities.

I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a science teaching degree and taught in Minnesota for several years.  I received my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Southwest State University, and then completed an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Education Administration from St. Mary’s University, after which I served as a 5-8 Principal.

When an opportunity presented itself in the Vinton-Shellsburg School District, I knew it was time to come back to my home school district and give back to the system that gave me so much.  I moved here with my wife Melanie (Vinton-Shellsburg Class of 96) and our four kids: Maggie, Abby, Hayden, and Nile.  Once a Viking, always a Viking.  I started in our District as High School Associate Principal.  I have also been the Principal of the Alternative School and the District At-Risk Coordinator.  I am thrilled to now have the opportunity to be Principal at Shellsburg Elementary.

Please feel free to visit our school.  Shellsburg Elementary has an outstanding staff that is committed to giving our students a first-class education.  We are here to serve our families and communities and would welcome the opportunity to show you what we do.

-Ryan Davis, Principal
