Grievance Procedures

Inquiries by students regarding compliance with equal educational opportunity and affirmative action laws and policies, including but not limited to complaints of discrimination, shall be directed to the Affirmative Action Coordinator by writing to the Affirmative Action Coordinator, Vinton-Shellsburg Community School District, 1502 C Ave., Vinton, Iowa 52349; or by telephoning (319) 436-4728.

This inquiry or complaint to the federal office may be done instead of, or in addition to, an inquiry or complaint at the local level. Further information and copies of the procedures for filing a complaint are available in the school district’s central administrative office and the administrative office in each attendance center.

The board is committed to the policy that no otherwise qualified person will be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any school district program or activity on the basis of race, religion, sex, marital status, age, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability. Further, the board affirms the right of all students and staff, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability to be treated with respect and to be protected from intimidation, discrimination, physical harm and/or harassment.
