Proudly announcing the next Tilford Elementary principal, Andrea Townsley!

After going through a robust interview process, Andrea Townsley will be recommended as the next Tilford Elementary principal. Vinton-Shellsburg Superintendent Kyle Koeppen stated “Mrs. Townsley brings a wealth of elementary specific experience in both teaching and curriculum knowledge. She already has a strong background in our district as she has served as our school improvement consultant for the past several years and is one of the reasons why we have strong academic success.”

Mrs. Townsley taught 4th grade at the Benton Community School District for eight years. Andrea then served Benton CSD as the Elementary Curriculum and Professional Development Leader and Instructional Coach for three years. She has spent the last six years at the Grant Wood Area Education Agency (AEA) serving school districts as a School Improvement Consultant and supporting the AEA’s professional learning office. Andrea spearheaded the creation of a new micro-credential content program for area educators and is a Cognitive Coaching trainer for the agency.  She has also spent time as an adjunct professor for Mt. Mercy University supporting graduate level students and writing and assessing curriculum for The University of Phoenix’s teacher-leader graduate program. At the heart of all her work is working with and supporting all students to be successful.

I am excited to accept the principal position at Tilford Elementary. It is an honor to serve the students, staff, and families of Vinton-Shellsburg CSD. I am looking forward to leading a school community that is dedicated to providing the absolute best educational opportunities for all students.” Mrs. Townsley said.

Mrs. Townsley’s family includes her husband (Eric), daughter (Emma), and son (Kaiser).
